Event announcement: Using 5G to support rural areas to level up- Lessons learnt from Mobile Access North Yorkshire
Digital connectivity is a basic human right but many rural areas still do not have access to a fast and reliable network supporting the future of areas.
Mobile Access North Yorkshire – a Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) 5G Testbed and Trials project – has been working with residents and businesses in Coverdale, North Yorkshire to explore how 5G can support their lives and livelihoods with the technology now being rolled out as part of the lead technical partner, Quickline’s commercial venture.
As the project comes to an end, MANY will be holding an event on Wednesday 15th June at The Saddle Rooms, Coverdale to showcase the lessons learnt and discuss how 5G can be rolled out in order to ensure this latest technology works for and supports all rural areas.
It will include workshops highlighting the importance of community engagement, as well as how improved connectivity led by local authorities can support the levelling up agenda.
There will also be an opportunity to try out some of the technology deployed to support hospitality and tourism businesses, mountain rescue teams as well as talking to the end users of the technology.
