MBE awarded to our Vice Chair, Jan Thornton
We’re delighted that our Vice Chair, Jan Thornton, has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for her services to rural communities in Yorkshire. Not only does she sit on our board, but she also finds time as a board member on York & North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) and the Yorkshire Food, Farming and Rural Network.
Jan is a passionate advocate of creating thriving rural communities and says:
“I am delighted to have been nominated and I am deeply humbled to be considered worthy for this award. I have spent the past twenty-five years involved in supporting rural communities at a variety of levels and I am passionate about doing my best to ensure that no one is unreasonably disadvantaged by where they live.”
