Whitby: Activities Coordinator/Team Leader, Trinity Centre Whitby
We have an exciting opportunity for someone with
- Creativity and a lively sense of fun
- A keen interest in older people
- Excellent Communication and Team Leadership skills
Could you be our new Activities Coordinator/Team Leader?
Located in the heart of Whitby, the Trinity Centre is a social and activity Centre for older people, some of whom are living with dementia. Our team offers services 3 days per week to promote social inclusion and help older people to sustain capacity and wellbeing through interaction and activity.
Your role is to lead our small team of activity support staff in creating and delivering a varied programme of activities to engage our older and vulnerable clients, keeping them socially connected and functioning to the best of their abilities. Often the activities will be themed to support project funding, special events, local matters, clients’ own interests or current affairs.
An important aspect of this role is to monitor clients’ wellbeing and liaise closely with families, and other voluntary and statutory agencies involved in their care. You will need to be confident in your use of IT and social media, as you will lead on record-keeping and updating friends and families.
Previous experience of working with older people will be an advantage but not essential, as training in this context will be provided. However, you will need empathy, patience, resilience, and insight into the effects of loneliness and vulnerability. Your creative skills will be essential, together with your willingness to learn..
If this sounds like the role for you, please email Carolyn.email@example.com to ask for an application pack and perhaps arrange an informal visit to the Centre.
