York: HR Officer, Brunswick Organic Nursery

Part time: 16 hours per week
Salary: In the region of £24,000 pro-rata (approx. £10,200 per annum based on 16 hours).
Working hours: Can be flexible between Monday – Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm. Our ideal would be split across 3 days but we are open to discussion.
Benefits: 35 days holiday per year pro-rata. All training is fully paid. Company sick pay scheme.

Brunswick Organic Nursery is a charity based in Bishopthorpe, York, which provides a productive and rewarding environment for people with learning disabilities to work in. We aim to build skills and confidence, support wellbeing and develop independence through offering opportunities in different work areas. These include horticulture, crafts, woodwork, administration and cooking.

This is a new role for us and we’re excited to be able to build and improve our HR function.

In all aspects of this role, you’ll need excellent attention to detail and be able to organise your work autonomously. You’ll have strong listening and communication skills and your written language skills need to be excellent.

Key responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with colleagues to fulfil HR responsibilities for 40+ staff.
  • Ensure a high-quality HR function and smooth organisational operations.
  • Oversee our recruitment process.
  • Coordinate and record staff training.
  • Involvement in our monthly payroll processes.
  • Support the development of compliance and best practices.
  • Draft policies and coordinate our policy renewal schedule.
  • Assist in delivering interviewer training to adults with learning disabilities who are on our interview panels.
