The Role
We are looking for a passionate and motivated Youth Worker and Community Engagement Worker to join our team. In this dual role, you will work closely with young people and the wider community to build relationships and oversee our Public Living room and food stall. Whilst fostering a sense of inclusion and belonging.

Youth Work:
You will plan and deliver activities, and events for young people. Provide one-to-one support and mentoring, addressing individual needs. You will promote young people’s personal, social, and educational development. And act as a positive role model and build trusting relationships with young people.

Community Engagement:
Build strong connections with local residents, community groups, and organisations. Welcoming both Gypsy and Traveller communities, and non- Gypsy and Travellers.

Facilitate consultations and involve the community in shaping York Travellers Trusts services and initiatives. You will be involved in organising community events and campaigns to promote engagement and inclusion.

About You
We are seeking an energetic, approachable, and community-focused individual who is passionate about supporting young people and building stronger communities.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse groups. A flexible, proactive approach with the ability to adapt to changing needs. And knowledge of issues affecting young people and local communities.

A commitment to promoting equality, inclusion, and diversity is essential.

Relevant qualifications in youth work, community development, or a related field is important.
