Village hall closures may be on the horizon due to energy crisis
Some village halls will be facing closure this winter unless support can be found to help them cope with rising energy prices.
This is the warning from Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE), of which we are a member.
ACRE have asked village halls and community buildings across England to take a survey on what impact they expected the increasing energy costs will have on their organisations, and the picture presented raises stark concerns that many communities will lose a vital resource if halls are forced to close.
ACRE is calling on the Government to help by providing financial support, grant funding, tax reductions and providing additional financial help so that village halls can become warm hubs within their communities where people can socialise in warm, welcoming spaces and receive energy
advice at the same time.
