Sprucing up Scarborough

A sandy beach in Scarborough, bordered by green hills and a town with historic buildings, including a large, ornate hotel. People stroll along the shoreline and promenade under a partly cloudy sky, livening up the lively atmosphere.

North Yorkshire Council are asking you to help shape the future of Scarborough town centre.

Sprucing up Scarborough programme is focused on making the town centre feel cleaner, safer, more welcoming and cared for by bringing together improvement projects, design guidance and tools that support growth and pride.

Scarborough has been selected to pilot the new Government-introduced High Street Rental Auction powers which aim to bring long-term empty commercial properties back into use by requiring landlords to work with councils to identify new tenants.

The council has proposed a boundary where these powers could be used and are asking members of the public, businesses, landlords, property owners, managing agents and visitors to have their say, between now and the 19 May.

The survey is open until 19 May and you can find out more and take part online. Alternatively, you can also pick up, complete and return a paper survey at Scarborough Town Hall and Scarborough Library.

North Yorkshire Council are encouraging everyone to get involved and have their say, the survey is open to everyone including residents, businesses, landlords, property owners, managing agents and visitors.
