The Great Big Green Week in North Yorkshire

Celebrate action. Take your next step.

From 6 to 14 June, communities across the UK will be coming together for Great Big Green Week, the UK’s biggest celebration of action for climate and nature.

Here in North Yorkshire, it is a brilliant moment to shine a light on the small, practical steps that can make a big difference, from saving energy in community buildings and creating more space for wildlife, to growing food, sharing skills and travelling more sustainably.

A group of older adults chat and smile around a table with potted plants outside a stone building during Great Big Green Week 2026. One woman holds a watering can, bunting is hung above, and green hills and trees are visible in the background.

Climate action starts close to home

Climate change can feel huge, but many of the most powerful changes begin locally.

For communities in North Yorkshire, climate action can mean warmer village halls, lower energy bills, healthier places to walk and cycle, more resilient green spaces, stronger local connections and better support during flooding, heat and drought.

Great Big Green Week is a chance to celebrate what is already happening, and to help more people feel confident about getting involved.
