Become a Community Energy Ambassador and make a real difference
Could you help people in your community stay warm, safe and informed about their energy use?
Thanks to our Village Green project partner’s Community Energy Ambassadors training, you can – and it’s completely free.
Now in its sixth year, this training – run by the Yorkshire Energy Doctor – is funded by Northern Gas Networks and has already trained over 750 people from voluntary and public sector organisations across North, East and West Yorkshire, the Northeast, and parts of Cumbria.
These are more than just training sessions – they’re about creating a ripple effect of knowledge. Attendees go on to share vital information with residents who need it most, from practical energy-saving tips to details of support schemes.
Why take part?
Recent feedback from Energy Ambassadors shows just how powerful this training can be:
- 85% now provide more energy advice than before
- 98% have passed on energy information to others
- 96% feel more confident advising on energy issues
- In 2023 alone, graduates of the course played a key role in Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week, delivering potentially life-saving advice about the ‘Silent Killer’.
What the course covers
Run online over three weeks (1.5 hours per week), the CPD-certified course covers:
- Fuel poverty, energy prices, bills and debt
- Energy efficiency, energy-saving tips, and carbon monoxide safety
