Luke Charters MP visits Community First Yorkshire
‘It’s about giving turbo rockets to VCSE organisations.’
Last week we welcomed Luke Charters, MP for York Outer, to Community First Yorkshire to share more about our work and the vital role the VCSE sector plays across Yorkshire.
We spoke about how local charities, community groups and volunteers are often the first to respond when people need support. These organisations reach people in ways that statutory services sometimes can’t, making partnership working essential.
Luke also heard about the value of events like our Create 26 conference (21 May), which bring the sector together to share ideas, strengthen leadership and spark new collaborations.
Looking ahead, we discussed the opportunities for the VCSE sector to continue driving innovation, building new partnerships and supporting resilient, connected communities.
It was a positive and energising conversation – and a reminder of the incredible impact that happens when local organisations are given the tools, confidence and, as Luke put it, ‘turbo rockets’ to thrive.
