Twice a year Safer North Yorkshire, Safer York Partnership and North Yorkshire Police come together to host an online Domestic Abuse Forum. The forum provides an opportunity for partners to share information about services, develop knowledge and strengthen partnership working across the County.

The first forum, held online in November 2025, was extremely well attended, with over 60 participants joining the discussion.  They are keen to build on this success and are pleased to be planning their next forum, scheduled for the 23 June at 10am-12pm.

The theme of this upcoming forum will be ‘Partnerships for Inclusive Support’ with a focus on understanding the barriers faced by seldom heard communities experiencing domestic abuse.

There will be two presentations focusing on the Military Community and Male Victims.

If your group works with or supports people from seldom-heard communities, such as the Military; male victims; older people; people with disabilities; the LGBT+ community, or black, minority ethnic, (please note this list is not exhaustive), they will greatly value your input.

There are a couple of ways in which your organisation or group can be involved:

• A representative from your group can attend this forum (and future forums) to hear first-hand about developments in the domestic abuse sector and share this information with the communities you support.
• Alternatively, you may nominate a point of contact to receive information and appropriately disseminate information from the forum without attending.

Individual cases or personal details will not be discussed.  The forum is there to provide a platform for sharing information, learning and best practice.
