About the role

Nidderdale Museum Society CIO operates an independent museum in Pateley Bridge, North Yorkshire and is seeking someone with experience of working with volunteers to lead a project investigating all aspects of running a volunteer-led museum. They’re seeking a freelancer to work with them at the Museum for eight months on a two day per week basis, looking into volunteer recruitment, retention, involvement and training. The successful candidate will work largely at the museum, though there may be some work that can be carried out at home.

It is an active research project, with activities and tasks being set up, monitored and evaluated throughout. It is hoped that the final report and evaluation will form the basis of their future volunteer strategy and for a funding application for a more permanent professional position.

The freelance contract is for £11,000 and it is hoped that the successful candidate will start work in April. Further information and an application form is available via the museum website Volunteer Coordinator – Nidderdale Museum.
