Third Sector Trends in England and Wales: the contribution of voluntary organisations to place

Five professionals sit around a conference table in a modern office, discussing Third Sector Trends among voluntary organisations in England and Wales. One man stands, gesturing to a document as the others listen. Natural light streams through large windows.

The latest Third Sector Trends 2025 report has been published, looking at how voluntary organisations contribute to their local areas.

Third Sector Trends surveys the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector every three years and, in 2025, collected 8,680 responses across England and Wales.

It’s the only large, fully representative survey that can track long‑term national and regional trends.

This fourth report compares regions, with a special focus on the North East.

A final national report will be released in March, followed by local reports in April.
