About Project Marigold Ryedale

Project Marigold delivers early therapeutic support for primary school-aged children experiencing mental health difficulties, alongside support for the adults who play a key role in their lives.

Their service model recognises that lasting improvement in children’s mental health requires support around the whole child. They provide tailored play and drama therapy to help children understand and manage their emotions, reduce the impact of mental health difficulties and engage more successfully with school and family life.

They also work with schools and families, strengthening confidence and capacity to recognise and respond to children’s mental health needs, creating a network of support that extends far beyond individual therapy sessions.

As a new CIO charity, they’re expanding their services: they’ve successfully delivered and independently evaluated a therapeutic support programme for school staff, demonstrating positive impact and have now launched their play and drama therapy service for children.

Purpose of the Role

Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of Project Marigold Ryedale. Working collectively as a Board, trustees ensure that the charity is effectively managed, financially sustainable, legally compliant and delivering on its charitable objectives. Every trustee performs their role in a voluntary capacity.

Key Responsibilities

As a trustee, you will:

• Ensure the charity complies with its governing document, charity law, company law (where applicable) and other relevant legislation.
• Contribute to the development and review of the charity’s vision, mission, strategy and objectives.
• Safeguard the charity’s assets, reputation and long-term sustainability.
• Monitor financial performance and ensure resources are used effectively.
• Support and provide constructive challenge to senior staff and volunteers.
• Promote good governance and effective risk management.
• Act in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries at all times.
• Advocate for the charity and help raise its profile within the community.
• Attend and actively participate in Board meetings and relevant sub-committees.

• Are willing to devote the necessary time and effort to the role.
• Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Can work effectively as part of a team.
• Understand the importance of confidentiality and good governance.

Time Commitment

• Approximately 6–10 days per year.
• Attendance at quarterly Board meetings.
• Participation in occasional committee meetings, events and strategic planning sessions.
