Met Office Weather Warnings – Cold Weather and Icy Conditions
Weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office regarding cold weather and icy conditions.
Please remember/remind colleagues:
- To drive carefully. Information on driving in winter can be found at Prepare a winter kit for your car from the Met Office and Winter Driving Advice from the AA.
- Information about current road conditions is available from cameras showing locations across North Yorkshire.
- Ensure people are warm. Be aware of increased risks of slips, trips and falls as a result of feeling cold or from trailing blankets/throws;
- Be aware of increased risks from temporary heaters, as a fire hazard, trip hazard and ventilation;
- Ensure people are hydrated and can access hot drinks throughout the day;
- Ensure your Business Continuity Plan is in place and colleagues understand what is required to ensure a safe service is delivered.
Many people will be concerned about the cost of putting on heating to stay warm, however temperatures are expected to drop below zero degrees for more than 48 hours which will increase the risk to life.
If you have any significant concerns about someone you support and which you have been unable to resolve, please complete this form and return to socialservices.contracting@northyorks.gov.uk and they will endeavour to escalate concerns and will contact you with additional information.
