Commitment: Six trustee meetings per year, plus annual strategy session and other occasional meetings and events

Share Skipton is looking for people who would like to help shape the future of their charity and support their work to build a more sharing, sustainable Skipton.

As a Trustee, you’ll help guide their strategic direction and ensure Share Skipton is well governed, financially sustainable and able to continue making a positive difference in their community.

What they do

They run a Library of Things and Repair Café, alongside other sharing, repairing and re-use initiatives. They’re working to reduce waste, save resources and money and build a stronger, kinder and more sustainable Skipton.

What would you be involved in?

• Helping shape Share Skipton’s strategy and future direction

• Supporting good charity governance and decision-making

• Helping oversee their finances and funding

• Identifying and managing potential risks

• Building relationships with funders, partners and the wider community

• Acting as an ambassador for Share Skipton

• Working collaboratively with their other Trustees and staff

What are they looking for?

You don’t need previous Trustee experience. Training and support will be provided. They’d particularly welcome people with experience or interest in areas such as:

• Governance or leadership

• Finance and budgeting

• Fundraising or partnership development

• Community engagement

• Communication and representing organisations

Most importantly, they’re looking for people who care about what they’re trying to achieve, are willing to contribute their time and expertise and share their commitment to sustainability, equality, inclusion and community.

The commitment

Trustees attend six meetings a year, plus an annual strategy session and occasional working groups, training and events where possible.

The role is voluntary and unpaid, although reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
