Harrogate: Active Communities Manager, North Yorkshire Sport

Salary: £34,508 – £38,508
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Fixed term until 31 March 2028
About the role:
North Yorkshire Sport is looking for an Active Communities Manager. You will lead an exciting programme, managing and developing a sizeable grant programme in the county. You will share their values and be driven to make a difference. You will join a friendly, supportive team that values different backgrounds and perspectives.
This role is about connecting people and organisations, building strong relationships, and helping communities to thrive through movement and activity. You will be skilled at bringing partners together, understanding local challenges, and finding practical solutions with others.
A key part of the job will be managing and overseeing a portfolio of community investments across the county. This means you’ll need to be organised and methodical when following processes, as well as creative and confident in leading work with others, even when you don’t have formal authority. They’re looking for someone who believes in fairness, equality and inclusion, and who understands how community development brings about positive change.
The role is part of their Active Communities Team, who focus on place-based approaches and working with specific communities across North Yorkshire. You will work with public sector, community and voluntary partners.
What they can offer you:
- A rewarding role at an exciting time for the charity.
- A supportive, flexible workplace where staff feel strong connection to their purpose.
- A team that their staff consistently recommend as “a great place to work”.
- A range of employee benefits (see recruitment page for details).
Their commitment to inclusion:
North Yorkshire Sport values diversity and is committed to equality. They welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and life experiences, regardless of their own relationship with being physically active. If you don’t meet every requirement but feel you have the skills and passion to succeed, they encourage you to apply.
