Impact of fuel price hikes on rural communities

22 March 2022

We are joining our voice with the many organisations who are concerned about the impact of increased fuel prices on rural communities.

Given that North Yorkshire is an area with one of the largest proportions of ‘off grid’ properties in the country, we are fully behind calls from Action for Communities in Rural England’s (ACRE) for the Government to take steps to support rural communities who will be significantly impacted by costs that affect their ability to heat their homes and travel to work – two very basic living requirements.

If you’re feeling the pinch from the rising fuel costs, local help is available.

  • Find out more about North Yorkshire County Council’s Household Support Fund which helps eligible families pay their fuel bills.
  • Warm and Well in North Yorkshire helps people struggling to pay their fuel bills, and supports people and communities to stay warm and well in their homes.
