Location: This is a home‑based role with regular travel across York and North Yorkshire

Hours: Minimum 32 hours per month (approx. 8 hours per week)

Salary: £5,527 gross per annum paid for 39 term‑time weeks (+ 1 week in summer break) with 5.6 weeks paid holiday

Lollipop is looking for an enthusiastic, organised and confident Activity Leader to join their friendly team supporting deaf children, young people and their families across York and North Yorkshire. This role is ideal for someone who loves creating engaging experiences, motivating young people and ensuring activities run safely and smoothly.

You’ll help plan, deliver and evaluate a varied programme of workshops, youth sessions, trips and events — mostly at weekends and some evenings. You’ll work closely with their Activities Manager, Volunteers Manager and wider team to make sure every activity is inclusive, well‑run and enjoyable.

What You’ll Do

• Support planning of the Programme of Activities
• Deliver and supervise workshops, youth sessions, trips and events
• Coordinate volunteers, BSL (British Sign Language) interpreters and specialist providers
• Liaise with venues and external organisations
• Conduct pre‑visits and risk assessments
• Deliver Deaf Awareness and Health & Safety briefings
• Engage and motivate children and young people
• Work in partnership with parents/carers
• Uphold safeguarding at all times
• Attend online weekly team meetings and contribute to evaluation
• Prepare monthly evaluation reports
• Collect fast‑feedback and conduct member polls
• Manage activity resources

What they’re looking for

Essential

• Minimum 1 year’s Activity Leading experience
• Experience working with children/young people aged 0–25
• Experience managing a team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organisational and decision‑making skills
• Ability to deliver Deaf Awareness
• Ability to carry out risk assessments
• Ability to motivate and engage young people
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, committed and confident in challenging environments
• Full driving licence

Desirable

• Knowledge of SEND (Special educational needs and disabilities)
• BSL skills
• Experience using social media or website tools
