Trustees’ Week 2025

Trustees’ Week 2025 – celebrating the people who make it happen

3–7 November 2025

This Trustees’ Week, we’re joining the national celebration of the nearly one million trustees across the UK who give their time, skills and energy to help charities thrive.

It’s a chance to recognise the incredible dedication of those who guide our charities and community groups – and to inspire the next generation of trustees to get involved.

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing stories, blogs and resources to help trustees connect, develop their skills and celebrate the difference they make.

We’re also shining a spotlight on local voices, including a new video from Coastline Sight & Hearing in Scarborough, whose trustees live with sight and hearing loss. Their story shows how lived experience can create powerful, compassionate leadership that truly changes lives.

Whether you’re already a trustee or just curious about what’s involved, join us in celebrating, supporting and inspiring the people who keep our charities strong.

No matter where you are on your trustee journey, explore these resources, training and volunteering opportunities, and get involved in the celebrations by following us on Facebook and LinkedIn.

Trustee training

We’ve developed a suite of trustee training that covers everything you need to know about becoming a great trustee, as set out in the Charity Good Governance Code – from finance and mitigating risk, to safeguarding, diversity and recruitment.

This training is running throughout the year. However, places are limited so book now to avoid disappointment.

Resources for trustees

Wherever you are on your trustee journey, this condensed list of resources will help you achieve your good governance goals.

A guide to trustee recruitment

Starting your recruitment process can feel overwhelming, from the time it takes to find great candidates to sorting through the many available resources out there.

This guide is here to help, giving you a simple, step-by-step approach with handy resources along the way.

Refresh your knowledge

Whether you’re a seasoned trustee or new to the role, the Charity Commission’s 5-minute guides are a great resource to help you understand your responsibilities and make informed decisions for your charity.

These guides offer a ‘core syllabus’ that covers the key principles of charity governance that every trustee should be familiar with.

What do trustees do?

It’s a very valid question – and many people find it hard to define the role. And with so many responsibilities, there’s no single answer that covers everything.
