Skipton: Youth Programme Horse Specialist, Jamie’s Farm

£30,933–£33,930 pro rata | Skipton, North Yorkshire | Permanent | Part time 0.7 FTE, 31.5hrs per week including 1 early and 1 evening

If you are passionate about using horses to help young people thrive, Jamie’s Farm would love to hear from you.

Jamie’s Farm is a charity that supports young people through combining therapeutic work, farming and purposeful activities. Through residential visits to their working farms, they provide a nurturing environment where young people can reflect, build confidence, and develop resilience to overcome personal challenges.

They are looking for a horse specialist to join their growing team at Jamie’s Farm Skipton, ahead of launching residential visits in January 2027.

More about the role

This unique role combines equine-assisted work with hands-on farm life.  As Youth Programme Horse Specialist, you will plan and deliver engaging horse-based sessions for visiting young people, using an equine-assisted therapeutic approach to create opportunities for connection, reflection and personal growth.

As part of the wider team, you will contribute to the shared rhythms of farm life, from feeding rounds and walks to mealtimes, group discussions and occasional evening activities. You will also lead day-to-day horse care and welfare, maintaining high standards of husbandry, stable management and wellbeing.

About you

You will bring strong practical experience of horse care, welfare and management, alongside experience of using equine-assisted work with children and young people. Warm, patient and collaborative, you will be confident building positive relationships and creating safe, engaging experiences that encourage participation, reflection and growth.

You will bring excellent communication and organisational skills and be motivated to use your equine expertise to make a meaningful difference for young people.

Don’t meet every requirement? They’d still love to hear from you.
